DFW Chapter's cruise to Bebo's and Kathy's Cafe

We started off at the Buc-ees in Denton.

Unfortunately, the X 1/9 had a fuel pump issue and so 1 vintage 124 and the X dropped out before we started. After attempting to change out the fuel pump on site, we quickly realized the back up fuel pump was also not working, as confirmed by a quick suction by mouith test getting gas, but the fuel pump not pushing any. Kathy used her 124 as a parts store ferry for the X to get a new fuel pump.
So, the rest of the group headed on to Bebo's. By this time, Kathy and Dane were just going to have to turn around and go home as soon as they got to Bebo's anyway because of other commitments and we also had another car who couldn't delay much longer due to other commitments.
Once they procured a new fuel pump at a fairly nearby parts store, it was a quick install (If you've never worked on a X1/9, the fuel pump is one of the easist things to swap out there is), and the X was running again.
For those who may not know, Kathy and Dane founded this club years ago, but now live in Belize. We are glad they dropped by to say hi! We don't get to see them enough any more. Their son, Alex, was with them, as well. When they still lived in the DFW area, Alex was a regular at club events.
Along with Kathy, Dane and Alex, we had Jason and Nicole and their son (ack! I forget his name), Wade, R.T., Jennifer and I, and first timers Jim and Kathleen. Jim and Kathleen have been suffering for the last 6 years on a US Embassy assigment in the Bahamas, so I am sure they were happy to get away from their beachside views and feel the warmth of the Texas sun.
The drive to Bebo's was nice, albeit stuck behind local traffic the entire way. At least, they went the speed limit.
Bebos was Bebos. Good american diner food surrounded by walls covered in dragster, Elvis, biker, rock themed memorabilia. How many restaurants do you know of that have half a '57 Bel Air hanging on the wall with rotating tires and wheels?
